Meet the Author

John Richardson

John Richardson is a father who values kindness, humour, honesty, and trying his best to do good by the people around him.

“Life is about the minutes, moments and memories we create.”

He believes we should try to leave a few smiles behind us along the way.

Justice Is Served was born from a very difficult chapter in John’s life. What began as a way of putting his thoughts and emotions onto paper became something much more: a collection of stories inspired by real events, fictionalised and brought to life through imagination.

John hopes that Justice Is Served will do two things. First, give readers a sense that they are not alone in the things they or the people they love may have experienced, and perhaps offer a little understanding, comfort or healing along the way. And secondly, he hopes it simply entertains them, so they can sit back, become absorbed in the stories, and enjoy a good read.

At its heart, Justice Is Served is about the things that happen in life, the people affected by them, and the question of what justice might look like when the system doesn’t always provide the answers.

    Dedication

    For Charlie

To my son Charlie, there was a time when life felt unbearably heavy and I questioned whether I had the strength to keep moving forward. In those moments it was your existence, your laugh, your presence that gave me the quiet reason to carry on. This book, with all its stories of struggle and survival, is dedicated to you. It’s my way of saying thank you, for being the light that helped guide me back.

The people who stood beside me

    Martin Turner

There are some people who come into your life and simply stand beside you when you need them most. Martin Turner is one of those people.

Martin, over the last year and a half, you have been there through the highs and the lows, through the good days and the very dark ones. We have talked about Justice Is Served countless times, shared ideas, and watched this book slowly become a reality.

When I had lost so much and couldn’t afford the £1,500 needed to get this book published, you stepped up and helped make it possible. But your support has meant far more to me than money ever could. You believed in me, you believed in the book, and you never stopped encouraging me to keep going.

So, Martin, this is my way of saying thank you. Thank you for standing by me, for believing in me, and for being there through thick and thin. I will never forget it.

    Ruhul Amin Akhand

When I became homeless, I was in a really dark place. I had lost everything. I had no money, and nothing to buy food with.

Ruhul, you gave me a roof over my head by providing me with a room in an HMO, and you brought food parcels round so that I could eat. Yes, housing people is your job, but you went above and beyond to help me.

And it wasn’t just giving me somewhere to live and food to eat. You gave me so much of your time, sitting down with me and talking to me when I was at my lowest. That, I will never forget.

When the law fails, a secret team steps in. Across thirteen dark and uncompromising stories, its specialists deliver the punishments the courts never could. Each case asks the same question: how far should justice go when mercy protects the guilty?
